My Favourite Optical Toy

What I thought about the Laura Hayes and John Howard Wileman Exhibit of Optical Toys website,is that it is very interesting. The optical toys in this website looks like if they were really fun to play between the periods of the eighteen and nineteen hundreds.I think this because during those time periods, there were no such things as Bratz,Barbies or technology toys as now a days. Therefore it was better to have these toys then nothing.I also enjoy the information that it gives about each toy.As the history, who invented it and if the optical toys still exist.

My favourite optical toy from the website is the"Chromatrope."In my opinion I think this is the best toy, because I think it is really the only optical toy that looks colourful,in the website. It includes the colours red, yellow and blue, and I really enjoy toys which are interesting, exciting and colourful that is why I picked this optical toy.I have also seen the"Chromatrope"optical toy at a museum. At the right of this page, you will see a picture of this optical toy.

The"Chromatrope"worked by a mechanical slide, which meant the optical toy had moving parts inside. There are different mirrors which had different colours that moved. The"Chromatrope"was made of disks of glass and moved while a handle was being rotated. The handle would not move the disks of glass, but the other pieces inside the opitical toy direct it to move. Then the disks of colourful pieces of glass start to move.

One of my concerns from this website is if there were any other optical toys existing during the eighteen, nineteen hundreds?

T
his is the optical toy I have chosen as my favourite.

Barbara Kruger

What I think about Barbara Kruger's work is that it is amazing! I really think I like the one about being yourself. (I will display an example of the picture as a link on my blog.)I think her work is amazing because, she puts such strong words into her pieces of art, which somehow can be words that explain about an individual person.Barbara Kruger is an artist that likes Multi media she also likes to put strong words, and she likes to put many reds, whites and blacks in her pieces of art.

What I think of the piece of art which my first period Cyber ARTSp teacher has on her blog, is that it is a good piece of art, because somehow it might be true.In my point of view I do no think that human beings were made to only shop.I think we were made to build up a future. In my point of view I think that the "I" represents the person who you are.I do not think that the things that we buy do not define us,because some people buy some clothes that does not look good on them but just because they dress like that it doesn't mean that is how they are.For example I know many people that dress in black and look like punks, but when you meet them they are really sweet and generous.

Possessions are not most important to finding out who we are in the world because, first of all I explained that you should not judge people by there cover.First of all, people might look different from the outside but when you meet them, you find out that they are really loving and caring.

Important Elements that Fashion Designers should consider.

There are many fashion designers in the world that work really hard to design new clothing, for the four seasons of the year. For example, you can see the Pantone Fashion Colour Report for Spring 2008.They already have colours ready for next year's Spring which if you really think about it, its really soon.

As you also might see in the fashion page I was reading and searching information about the type of colours they use for the four seasons as for fall, summer, spring and winter. What I found out is that there are always different colours for every four seasons of different years.

In my opinion what I think the main elements that designers must consider when designing for the fashion industry, are colour, shape,(as the size of the dress, e.t.c.) design,(how its made), texture(how soft or silky is the piece of clothing.)I think these are the main elements because, when creating, fashion designers create there pieces of clothing by going through processes which include sketching, choosing their colour, and creating their final draft of their design. This is also a process of a piece of art/painting.I also think these are the main elements because texture, shape, colour are really important to clothing, because if it wasn't from these main elements their pieces of clothing would not attract people to buy it. This is what I think designers must consider when designing for the fashion industry.

My Chess Piece

As you see in my cyberarts class we have been doing more visual art projects. For now this is my second project I will be posting online. In my art class we have been doing many other kind of projects for example, chinese painting, technical drawing and of course our chess pieces. Hopefully, after you read my paragraphs describing the elements, as line and texture you will understand how hard I worked on my project.

In this art piece there has been use of of line. As you might see there are many kind of lines going from one direction to the other. For example, I drew many lines going straight, wavy and I also drew other lines which were drawn as if they were spinning. There was many types of shading as for example, light shading. In my chess piece I did shading so my creation could stand out more. I also used line so my chess piece could look detailed, and it could also look interesting and exciting.

There has also been use of value. For example there has been light and dark contrast as I had said before. As many people can see the shades of my drawing are not that dark but most of the shading is light.

Movement has been especially used in my drawing. I tried to create movement where ever I had a chance to. As you see in the drawing from above you can see wavy lines which are moving from every direction. You also see these little circles turning which can create movement in a person's mind.

What is also seen in this drawing is a little bit of rhythm and lots of pattern. There has been rhythm which has been repeated, but there has also been pattern which has been repeated in my chess piece drawing. You can see dark and light little circles, you can also see wavy lines that are creting a pattern.

I have worked really hard in my drawing. I tried my best to put detail and I tried my very best to make my chess piece to stand out. Hopefully the people who go on my blog will like my chess piece drawing, and the details I created for the background.

After I found out my mark, what I thought I needed to imporve was on my shading because it needed to have a darker shade so it could stand out more.

( At the right you will see my chess piece.)

"The False Mirror drawing"

HI welcome to my blog website !! In my Cyberarts class at Lakeshore Collegiate Institute we have been working on our blogs. My teacher has asked us and my classmates to write three paragraphs of a a drawing or painting we like. Therefore I went on doing my task and I found this painting that I really liked. This painting is called "The False Mirror"As you see you can see an eye with and eyeball that has a clear blue sky in it. That is what really interested me so much. I have done three paragraphs that explain Formalism, Imitationalism and Emotionalism in this painting. Hopefully you understand
what I liked about this painting . HOPE YOU ENJOY MY
SITE AND PARAGRAPHS!!

FORMALISM
In a formalism point of view there have been principals and elements of designs that have been used. There has been balance, movement, intensity, lines, texture, shape and space. As I have seen this painting is absurd. The balance has been well done, this piece of art looks realistical except from the part of the eyeball where it shows a clear blue sky. This sky looks realistical as if the eye were looking at the sky.
Imitationalism

The piece of art called " The False Mirror" does have imitationalism but not exactly. First of all the shape of the eye is exactly as real as a humans being eye. It is a technical drawing most part except were the eyeball has where you can see a clear blue sky. This blue sky also looks as it were a technical drawing except in the eyeball you see such great use of creativity.

Emotionalism

In
a emotionalism point of view, there is many things to be expressed here in this drawing. For example, when I see this eye it reminds me of a surprised moment. It also reminds of a person who is looking at the beauty of nature, as for example if someone was looking at the clear blue sky. Rather then that it sometimes reminds me of an eye that has emotion to be expressed as if someone felt sad or depressed, trying to express his or hers feelings with this piece of art.

So you have read my page about this drawing I hoped you enoyed reading this piece of information about " The False Mirror."Once again THANKS!!
