My Favourite Optical Toy

What I thought about the Laura Hayes and John Howard Wileman Exhibit of Optical Toys website,is that it is very interesting. The optical toys in this website looks like if they were really fun to play between the periods of the eighteen and nineteen hundreds.I think this because during those time periods, there were no such things as Bratz,Barbies or technology toys as now a days. Therefore it was better to have these toys then nothing.I also enjoy the information that it gives about each toy.As the history, who invented it and if the optical toys still exist.

My favourite optical toy from the website is the"Chromatrope."In my opinion I think this is the best toy, because I think it is really the only optical toy that looks colourful,in the website. It includes the colours red, yellow and blue, and I really enjoy toys which are interesting, exciting and colourful that is why I picked this optical toy.I have also seen the"Chromatrope"optical toy at a museum. At the right of this page, you will see a picture of this optical toy.

The"Chromatrope"worked by a mechanical slide, which meant the optical toy had moving parts inside. There are different mirrors which had different colours that moved. The"Chromatrope"was made of disks of glass and moved while a handle was being rotated. The handle would not move the disks of glass, but the other pieces inside the opitical toy direct it to move. Then the disks of colourful pieces of glass start to move.

One of my concerns from this website is if there were any other optical toys existing during the eighteen, nineteen hundreds?

T
his is the optical toy I have chosen as my favourite.
