A.Y Jackson was born 1882 and died on the year 1974. He was born in Montreal. Jackson was trained in Chicago and Paris. Jackson joined the army in 1915 and he painted scenes of World War 1 in Europe. Alexander was Canada's most travelled artist he painted in the Artic, British Columbia , Alberta, Ontario and the Maritimes.Alexander Young Jackson favourite subjects of painting were the farms and villages of Quebec.He made his paintings with Oil on Canvas.He also made his paintings with Oil on wood panel.

His drawings were always pencil on paper. A.Y. Jackson drawings and paintings always had dark colours as if were Autumn colours.A.Y Jackson also used dark light colours to express the colours of farms from Alberta and the Maritimes.
